A Heart Attack/Myocardial Infarction can strike like a silent threat, but specific warning signs can provide early alerts. Common symptoms include:
Chest Pain or Pressure – Intense pressure, squeezing, heaviness, or pain in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes. It may spread to the left arm, shoulder, back, neck, or jaw.
Shortness of Breath – Difficulty breathing, often occurring with or before chest discomfort.
Cold Sweat, Nausea, or Lightheadedness – Breaking out in a cold sweat, feeling nauseous, vomiting, or sudden dizziness.
Upper Body Discomfort – Pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, shoulders, neck, jaw, or upper part of the stomach.
Unusual Fatigue – Sudden, extreme tiredness without any clear reason, especially in women.
Other Possible Signs – Indigestion-like feeling, anxiety, heart palpitations, or a sense of impending doom.
It’s important to note that symptoms can vary between men and women, and may be mild or come and go. If you or someone experiences these signs, seek emergency medical help immediately—every minute counts.

It is the medical term for a heart attack. It occurs when blood flow to a part of the heart muscle is blocked, causing damage to the heart tissue.
Symptoms include chest pain or discomfort (pressure, squeezing), pain spreading to the arm, jaw, neck, or back, shortness of breath, cold sweat, nausea, and lightheadedness.
People with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking habit, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, or a family history of heart disease are at higher risk. Age (men 45+ / women 55+) also increases risk.
Prevention includes eating a heart-healthy diet, regular exercise, avoiding smoking and excess alcohol, managing stress, controlling blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels.
Call emergency services immediately. Keep the person calm, seated, and help them take any prescribed chest pain medication (like nitroglycerin). Do not leave them alone.
